Nathaniel "Nate" Bell joined the staff of head coach Toyelle Wilson and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team as an assistant coach in May 2025. The 2025-26 season will be his first with the program.
Bell comes to the Island with seven years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, most recently as an assistant coach at Keiser University in 2024-25. During his lone season with the Seahawks, Bell helped lead the team to an overall record of 19-9 and a Sun Conference Tournament appearance, with its .679 winning percentage being the school's best since the 2009-10 campaign. He also helped four different players earn All-Sun Conference honors, including two that earned spots on the First Team.
Bell made the move to Keiser after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, helping the team improve its record every season during his stint. His tenure culminated with a school-record 17 wins in the 2023-24 season, including victories over Southland Conference opponent McNeese and Arkansas for the program's first-ever win over a power conference school. Bell also coached four players to All-SWAC Conference honors and helped play a significant role in Zaay Green and Khadijah Brown winning SWAC Newcomer of the Year in 2021-22 and 2020-21 respectively.
Bell's first coaching job in the collegiate ranks came as an assistant coach at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, where he assisted in recruiting, fundraising and organizing team basketball camps, among other duties. He also oversaw the team's academics, which had six members recognized as NJCAA Academic All-Americans and produced GPAs of 3.0 and higher.
Bell attended Texas Southern University during his time as a student, where he assisted the women's basketball team over his final two years as a team manager, handling film exchange and all managerial duties. During his second season, he was promoted to student assistant, with his additional duties including overseeing student managers, game film exchange, and assisting the Director of Basketball Operations on special projects and assignments. While with the team, Bell and the Lady Tigers won the SWACÂ Conference Championship in 2016-17 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Bell graduated from Texas Southern in 2018 with a degree in sports management. He later received his master's degree in secondary education/physical education from Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2022.
