Alyssa Andrews joined the staff of head coach Toyelle Wilson and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team as a graduate assistant in August 2025. The 2025-26 season will be her first with the program.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join the women's basketball staff here with the Islanders," Andrews said. "Basketball has been such a big part of my life, and I'm excited to learn, grow and contribute in a new role. I can't wait to get started with the team and be part of the culture here."
Andrews, a native of Woodbridge, Virginia, comes to the Island after wrapping up her playing career at Wake Forest in the spring. During her four-year tenure with the team, she featured in 108 total games and made 13 starts, averaging 3.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 16.1 minutes per game. Most recently, she was a team captain for the 2024-25 season, where she scored 54 points and grabbed 55 rebounds across 13 games while knocking down eight three-pointers in 12 tries.
"I'm so excited to welcome Alyssa to the Island!" Wilson said. "She played in the ACC and will bring a wealth of knowledge to our program! She understands what it takes to be elite and the mindset to be great, and we need that type of example to relate to the players. Our staff got even stronger, and I want to help her grow in this first step of her coaching career."
While with the Demon Deacons, Andrews also earned many different honors and accolades off the court, most notably taking home an ACC Top Six for Service Award in May of last year. She also served as a member of Wake Forest's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2022-25 and represented the university as part of the ACC's Social Media Committee and SAAC Executive Board in 2024-25, the latter of which she was named as the group's Communications Chair. In addition, Andrews attended the Women Leaders in Sports 2024 National Conference in Baltimore last October as a representative of the ACC and was selected to join the NCAA x Meta NIL Empower Program in January.
