Sasha Shishkina Staff Headshot

Alexandra Shishkina

Sasha Shishkina joined the Islanders' Women's Basketball staff as a Graduate Assistant for 2024-25 after playing on the team for two seasons.

In 2023-24, Shishkina helped the Islanders win the Southland Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. During the NCAA First Round match-up with No. 1 USC, she recorded a rebound and a block at the Big Dance. Through her senior season, she saw action in 28 games and shot 33.3 percent from three-point range.

Shishkina saw a championship in both years she played for the Islanders after the team won the SLC regular season title in 2022-23. That year, she helped the Islanders to their third-ever postseason appearance at the time as they competed in the WNIT against Wyoming.

She came to the Island after spending two seasons at Georgia Highlands. With the Chargers, Shishkina led the team to the NJCAA National Tournament championship game where she scored 22 points in the finals to be named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team. She was a two-time GCAA All-Conference Selection while averaging 13.7 points per game and was named the 2021-22 GCAA Tournament MVP after the team came away with the title.

Shishkina graduated from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Spring 2024 with her bachelor's degree in graphic design.
