Alex Quarles joined the Island as a graduate assistant for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball program in August 2023.
From Castle Pines, Colorado, Quarles most recently served as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at Newman University last season. In her role, she was in charge of organizing team travel, budgeting team finances, ordering and administering team equipment and gear, team scheduling, and coordinating with facilties and other departments.
Prior to her stint at Newman, Quarles worked as the Head Women's Basketball Student Manager at Oklahoma State University for four seasons from 2018-22. As a student manager, she served the team daily by providing laundry services and working practices as well as assisting the Director of Women's Basketball Operations with team gear ordering and issuing. Quarles also monitored team statistics and identified system errors as a Shot-Tracker Specialist.
Quarles was promoted to Head Student Manager prior to the 2021-22 season, where the team reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament and faced No. 1 Stanford.
Simultaneously, she worked as a high school girls' basketball assistant coach for Team Alexander Athletics from May 2018-May 2020. During so, she compiled team statistics in-game, developed new practice drills and game plays, and mentored the team by teaching basketball fundamentals and encouraging teamwork.
Quarles graduated from Oklahoma State in May 2022 where she double-majored to earn bachelor degrees in Business Administration in Sport Management and Marketing.
