Lee Scott joined the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Department of Athletics in December 2014 as the program’s Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. He was elevated to Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in May of 2016.
Scott served as the Texas A&M-Kingsville Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for just over a year, overseeing strength and conditioning for the school’s 12 intercollegiate athletics teams, before coming to the Island. He designed and implemented programs for every team at TAMUK in his time there, and helped the Javelinas pick up conference championships in baseball and men’s track in 2014. The TAMUK men’s track team finished fourth in the nation last year.
Prior to joining the staff at TAMUK, he worked at Houston’s Downtown Club at the Met as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer. In addition to his duties with the Downtown Club, he designed a plyometric and strength program for the John Lucas Camp in Houston. He also spent a year working at the YMCA in Victoria, Texas, for a year in the same position he held at the Downtown Club.
His career working in strength and conditioning began at Midwestern State, where he earned his master’s degree in physiology. As a strength and conditioning graduate assistant, he designed and implemented an offseason conditioning program for the women’s basketball team at MSU. He also designed and implemented the walk-on/redshirt football program for Midwestern and assisted in the strength and conditioning for football, men’s basketball and softball.
Scott began his career in college athletics as a student-athlete, serving as a kicker for the football team at Northwestern State before concluding his career at Midwestern State. He won conference championships in 2004 with the Demons and in 2009 with the Mustangs. He led the Lone Star Conference in kickoff coverage in both 2008 and 2009 for MSU.
Following his collegiate career, he was one of four kickers chosen to participate in the national combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. He also played semiprofessionally in the arena league for the Houston Stallions and Corpus Christi Fury, and is currently a sponsored racquetball player.
A longtime member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Scott resides in Corpus Christi.
