Johnathan Bell is entering his third year with the Islanders. He currently serves as the program's Director of Player Development after spending two years as a graduate assistant.

In his time on The Island, Bell has assisted with player development, scouting, and video breakdowns. Bell has been a part of an Islanders program that has won three conference championships, including the 2022-23 Southland Conference regular season crown and back-to-back SLC Tournament titles. It resulted in consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

He came to The Island University after a successful stint as the head high school coach at Calabasas High School in Southern California.

After beginning his collegiate career at Garden City Community College in Garden City, KS, Bell signed with fellow Southland Conference school Nicholls State University. Bell had a successful stint as a professional basketball player spending time in both Mexico and Spain before starting his own nonprofit for youth sports back in his home state of California.

In 2017, Bell graduated with his Bachelor degree in Marketing & Humanities from Nicholls State and will be pursuing his MBA at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
