Cole Dewey

Having won as both a collegiate head and assistant coach, Cole Dewey was hired as Assistant Coach with the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program in May 2021.

Since his arrival, the Islanders have won three conference championships, including the 2022-23 Southland Conference regular season crown and back-to-back SLC Tournament titles. It resulted in consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Dewey assisted the Islanders in winning their first-ever NCAA Tournament game this past season after beating Southeast Missouri State in the First Four. A&M-Corpus Christi won 13 of its final 15 games and were the first school to win the SLC Tournament in back-to-back years since 1992-94.
 
Dewey arrived after spending the 2020-21 season as the head coach at Garden City where he brought the team to the Elite Eight in the Region Tournament. The two years prior, he was the head coach at Otero and compiled a 45-17 record.
 
Dewey guided Otero to a 25-7 campaign in his final season in 2019-20. He coached the team to a ranking as high as No. 4 in the nation (highest in school history) and finished second in the region standings. All the sophomores he had on the squad graduated and signed to play at four-year schools.
 
Before landing the job at Otero, Dewey spent three seasons working as an assistant at powerhouse Indian Hills. There, the Warriors made three straight trips to the National Tournament and won 91 games. It included a 33-1 season in 2018.
 
Prior to his run at Indian Hills, Dewey coached the 2014-2015 season at South Plains, where the Texans made it all the way to the National Championship game. Indian Hills ended with a 29-7 record and was regular season and Region 5 champions.
 
The year before that, he was an assistant at Garden City - propelling the Broncbusters to a 22-9 record and a third-place finish in the Jayhawk Conference. It was the school's best finish in eight years.
 
He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Campbell University and also served as Director of Basketball Operations.
 
In all, Dewey has been a part of four conference championships while coaching 33 All-Conference players and three league Player of the Years. 54 of his student-athletes signed to play at Division I schools and his players have a 100 percent graduation rate.
 
Dewey grew up in Willow Spring, N.C. where he played for his father, David at South Johnston High School. There, he was a three-time all-conference performer, averaging 16 points, four rebounds and eight assists as a senior. He finished his prep career with 1,196 points and a school-record 520 assists.
 
After graduation, he signed at Campbell University where he played for four years and won two championships. He has a master's degree in Business Administration.
