Finished his career as the school’s all-time leader in appearances (72), starts (43) and innings (236) … went 3-0 with a 4.84 ERA in 18 appearances and three starts … struck out 16 to just five walks in 35 1/3 innings of work on the season … got the win with five strong innings against MVSU (2/20) … picked up victory number two by scattering five hits in five innings against HBU (3/1) … tossed two scoreless frames at Nicholls (3/19) … punched out two in 3 1/3 shutout innings at UTSA (4/1) … had a pair of shutout frames against NW State (5/13) … tossed a scoreless inning against SFA (5/27) at the Southland Tournament … allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings the following day against SFA.
2010 (JUNIOR): Made 19 appearances with a team-high 11 starts … secondon the team with 55 2/3 innings thrown … finished season with a 3-4 record anda 7.76 ERA … moved into first place all-time in innings pitched with 200 2/3 forhis career … extended his school record for career starts to 40 … picked up hisfirst win of the year against Elon (2/27) … threw six strong innings againstTexas State (3/5) in a no-decision … got the victory over Nicholls (3/19) withseven frames of work … got the win over Southeastern Louisiana (4/24) with 3.1frames of shutout ball out of the bullpen.
2009 (SOPHOMORE): Made 17 appearances with 14 starts which tied for thesecond most in the Southland Conference and led the team … finished 2-7 with a6.27 ERA … second on team with 29 strikeouts … led Islanders with 70 1/3 inningstossed permitting just 15 walks … opened the season with a win at New Mexico(2/20), scattering five hits in seven innings of work … allowed two runs whilestriking out a pair … earned second win against Southeastern La. (4/18)allowing three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings of work … fanned a season-highsix batters versus Central Arkansas (4/25).
2008 (FRESHMAN): One of two Islanders to start 15 games, posting a 2-6record … second in innings pitched with 74 2/3 … finished the season with 35strikeouts and 19 walks … pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout for firstwin of college career at Southeastern Louisiana (3/1) … earned second win ofseason against the UTSA Roadrunners (5/3) … tossed 7 2/3 innings scatteringseven hits while permitting two runs in a 5-2 win … also tossed 7 2/3 inningsin Whataburger College Classic against South Alabama (3/9), allowing four runson seven hits … fanned seven batters in 3 2/3 innings versus Nicholls State(3/30).

High School: Pitched for Mario DeLeon at Ray HS … posted a9-3 record with a 1.05 ERA as a senior as the Texans finished the season 31-6 …after sharing district title, team won bi-district and area championship … wasan all-state selection as a junior after going 8-5 with a 1.39 ERA … named tothe all-South Texas team as a junior and senior.
Personal: Roy R. Ferdin was born Aug. 27, 1987, in LongBeach, Calif. … son of Roy and Cindy Ferdin … has a younger sister … earned hisbachelor’s degree in kinesiology in December 2010 and is pursuing a master’sdegree in education.
