Sam Mote

Mote joined the Islander coaching staff in 2017, after spending the previous two years as an Assistant Coach at the University of Northwestern Ohio. In 2016 he helped lead the Racers to program records in doubles, home runs and slugging percentage, followed by a 2017 season that placed UNOH in the top-10 of the NAIA concerning hits and runs per game.  

Spent two years as an Assistant Coach with Iowa Western Community College, bringing the Reivers a NJCAA National Championship in 2014, and an NJCAA World Series appearance in 2015.

Sam Mote has recorded time as a Miamisburg City Schools substitute teacher, a scout for the Prep Baseball Report Ohio and a site director for Pastime Tournaments. 

The Islanders' Volunteer Assistant spent his playing career with Wright State University, as the Raiders claimed a Horizon League Tournament Title in 2009 and a Horizon League Regular Season Championship in 2010.
