In his role, he is the primary media contact for the A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball, cross country and track & field programs, and oversees all production of the Islanders Digital Network, the online streaming home of Islanders Athletics.

Forcella came to the Island University from the University of Central Florida, where he held the role of Associate Director of Athletic Communications. During his time with the Knights, he handled all facets of media, communications and social media for the men’s basketball, cross country and track & field programs.

“I am excited to have Dan Forcella join our team here at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi,” Director of Athletics Scott Lazenby said. “He understands what it takes to succeed in this ever-changing field of college athletics and has the knowledge and energy to help us achieve our goals and aspirations.”

In his new position with the Islanders, Forcella is the primary media contact for the athletics department and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s men’s basketball program.

“I’m excited to hit the ground running with the Islanders,” Forcella said.  “I want to thank Scott Lazenby, Associate AD Jimmy Frush and everyone involved in the search for giving me this incredible opportunity.  I look forward to working with this great group of coaches, student-athletes and staff here at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.”

Forcella has over 10 years of experience in the field, dating back to his time as a student intern at Vassar College, where he was also a captain of the Brewers’ men’s basketball team.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar in 2008, Forcella spent two years as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Central Connecticut State University, handling 11 sports for the Blue Devils.

He then moved on to the role of Athletics Media Relations Graduate Assistant at Belmont University, working with the men’s soccer and baseball teams. In both 2011 and 2012, Forcella aided in the promotion of Bruins’ baseball team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Forcella also interned at Vanderbilt University, working primarily with the Commodores’ men’s and women’s basketball and football programs.  He earned his Master of Sport Administration degree from Belmont in 2012.

For the last three years Forcella has been in the Central Florida area, spending two years as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Stetson and a year and a half at UCF.  He handled seven sports – including men’s basketball – for the Hatters.

A native of Falmouth, Maine, Forcella currently resides in Corpus Christi.
