AS A JUNIOR (2005-06): Appeared in all but one game, staring 14 where he was second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 12.9 points and 4.4 rebounds a game...Finished the year ranked second in the nation in field- goal percentage, hitting 66.2 percent (139-of-210) from the field...At one point was 11-of-11 in which every basket was a dunk...Eighty-six of his 118 rebounds came on the defensive end...Was second on the team in minutes played, averaging 24.4 a game...In his first game as an Islander he scored 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and four blocks in 19 minutes of action against Concordia...Had 19 double-figure scoring games...Scored a season-high 25 points at IPFW on 9-of-14 shooting...Also put in 23 points at home against Savannah State.

PRIOR TO TAMUCC: Played at Tyler Junior College for coach Mike Marquis where he was a two-year starter and letterwinner...Averaged 17.6 points, six rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 blocks per game...Was an honorable mention All-American as well as first-team all-region and first-team all-conference selection.

IN HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Longview High School for coach Tim Martin where he averaged 18.5 points and seven rebounds a game his senior season...Was named to the All-State, All-Region and All-District teams as well as the league's most valuable player.

PERSONAL: Cedric Smith was born Sept. 19, 1983 in Longview, Texas...The son of Edward and Betty Smith of Longview...Criminal justice major.
