SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field team finally returns to action this weekend after a more than three-week break, getting the outdoor portion of its schedule started on Friday and Saturday at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio.
The meet will be held at the Park West Athletics Complex, with events set to kick off at 10 a.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday. A&M-Corpus Christi will be competing in a 13-team field that includes Arkansas, conference rival UIW, Northern Arizona, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Our Lady of the Lake, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas, William Carey and hosts UTSA.
The Islanders start outdoor season coming off a solid effort at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships last month, finishing in fifth place on both the men's and women's sides. Individually, the team took home 11 medals overall and six golds, and sophomore
Elizabeth Khatevi was named the women's Most Valuable Performer for the meet as well as the Indoor Athlete of the Year for the season in total after she secured three first-place finishes in the mile, the 3000m and the distance medley relay.
During the 2025 outdoor season, A&M-Corpus Christi saw its athletes take down a whopping 11 school records, with all but one coming from returning members to this year's team. The Islanders also managed to win four gold medals at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships and sent five competitors – including senior
Cyan Green and junior
Breyunna Dowell – to the NCAA West Region First Round.
