Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Undefeated Islanders Roll on, Tennis Sweeps Concordia in Three Matches

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas A&M–Corpus Christi tennis teams kept the momentum of an unbeaten season rolling Friday, as they each swept Concordia in dominant fashion to push the women to 7-0 and the men to 8-0 on the year.

The day featured two women's matches and one men's match, with the Islanders repeatedly taking early control in doubles and carrying that energy through singles play to preserve their perfect records.

In the first women's match, the Islanders posted a 7-0 sweep behind a clean run in doubles and a string of decisive singles victories. Kseniya Ramanouskaya/Yana Mykytyn set the tone with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Adriana Jimenez/Viktoriia Sedova followed with a 6-3 victory and Emma Bousquet/Juliette Jalai closed doubles with a 6-2 win to secure the point.

Singles play was equally one-sided. Leticia Tarocco won 6-3, 6-1 at the top position, and Mykytyn controlled her match 6-2, 6-1. Ramanouskaya earned a retirement victory after taking the opening set 6-1, while Jimenez, Bousquet and Jalai each recorded straight-set wins to complete the sweep.

The Islanders followed with another victory in the second women's match, a 5-0 decision shortened format. Ramanouskaya picked up another retirement win at No. 2 singles, while Jimenez, Bousquet, Jalai and Sedova all delivered straight-set victories to clinch the result. Mykytyn was leading in her match at No. 1 singles when play was halted.

The men matched the women's intensity in a 7-0 sweep of Concordia. The Islanders secured the doubles point with wins from Omar Suarez/Etienne Marty (6-2) and the pairing of Mikel Garmendia/Nicholas Niox Chateau (6-4).

In singles, Marty set the pace with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2, and Ethan Dasset followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Garmendia, Filip Vacula and Josef Zapletal each cruised in straight sets, while Suarez battled through a tight three-set match at the top spot, prevailing 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 10-8 in a deciding match tiebreaker to cap the sweep.

The Islanders have yet to concede a point in any match this year, with every victory coming in a sweep.

The men will now turn their attention to Texas, facing off with the Longhorns tomorrow at 1 p.m. Texas reached the NCAA Championship semifinals last year, the NCAA Finals in 2024 and last won the national championship in 2019. The Islanders and Longhorns have battled four times in the NCAA Championships and two of those times the Islanders went into the NCAAs as a No. 3 seed. The teams last met in the 2023 NCAA Championships in Austin with the Longhorns winning a 4-0 decision.
