NEW ORLEANS – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team makes its way to Louisiana for a pair of road conference games this week, starting in the Big Easy for a matchup against New Orleans on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. before then moving west to take on Nicholls on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Islanders (4-16, 3-10 SLC) begin the trip squaring off with a Privateers (1-20, 1-12 SLC) squad that they handily took down at home in their most recent meeting back on New Year's Eve, earning an 85-54 win in what still stands as their biggest margin of victory against a Division I opponent this season. This game saw them reach some new heights, as they knocked down a whopping 10 three pointers in the first half to set the new program record for the most triples made in any single half of a game in program history. Asha Walker drilled six of these to match her own personal career-high on her way to a 21-point night, and redshirt sophomore

Rayna Williams each managed to record their first-ever collegiate double-doubles at the same time.
After this, the Islanders will then try to avoid the season sweep against the Colonels (10-10, 6-7 SLC) two days later, whom they played close with but ultimately lost to by a final score of 63-57 on December 29. On this day, the two teams found themselves tied at 51 with just 2:29 to go, but Nicholls was able to pull away by the end, converting on back-to-back trips down the floor and holding off A&M-Corpus Christi after this to earn the road win. Like against New Orleans, Walker also had a nice showing in this contest, playing 35 minutes off the bench and tying for the team lead with 12 points while knocking down four triples and grabbing five rebounds.
