COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team is back in action this weekend, heading to the east coast to compete in South Carolina's Wheeler Beach Bash Friday and Saturday.
The Islanders (1-3) began the 2026 season last weekend with a statement start, defeating #20 Tulane on opening day. Every opponent they played was ranked in the top-20 or were receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
Kristin Bobay and
Madison Morrow were awarded for their success over opening weekend, being named the SLC Pair of the Week after dominating the No. 1 court with a 3-1 pair record. They began with a straight-set win over (rv) Oregon before posting another sweep over #20 Tulane for the team's ranked win. They in another two-set win over (rv) South Florida the next day, before battling down to a third-set with #12 LSU at the No. 1 court.
Bryce Ranney and
Mia Stevens delivered one of the most grittiest finishes of the weekend, rallying for a 19-21, 21-19, 20-18 victory over #12 LSU at court five. It was their second ranked win of the weekend after a 21-19, 21-17 win against #20 Tulane.
It will be A&M-Corpus Christi's first time facing off with Chattanooga. The Islanders are even all-time with the hosts Gamecocks at 1-1, with the Islanders winning the last meeting 3-2. They hold advantages 1-0 and 2-0 over Austin Peay and Coastal Carolina.
