LAKE CHARLES, La. – With just four games remaining in the regular season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team will continue to fight for opportune seeding in the Southland Conference tournament with important matchups this weekend at McNeese and Southeastern.
Saturday's contest between the Islanders and Cowboys will tip at 7 p.m. nationally on ESPNU as one of the league's selected linear games of the season. It comes between two of the top teams in the conference with McNeese sitting in second place while the Islanders are currently in fourth.
A&M-Corpus Christi will then close out the regular season's road schedule Monday at Southeastern with a 6 p.m. start.
The Islanders have one of the best conference road records in the league this year, going 6-3 when playing away during the SLC slate. They lead McNeese 19-10 in the all-time series but have been in a slump against the Cow[1]boys, as A&M-Corpus Christi will be going for their first win in the series since the 2022-23 season when they defeated McNeese 80-63 in the Southland Conference Semifinals en route to winning the championship title.
The Islanders also hold a 19-10 advantage over Southeastern all-time, having won eight of the last 10 meetings including the 2021-22 SLC Championship game to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. A&M-Corpus Christi has won each of the last four games played in Hammond, and won the earlier meeting this season in Corpus Christi 68-56.
