NEW ORLEANS, La. – Spending opening weekend in the Big Easy, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team begins its 2026 campaign in Tulane's Green Wave Invitational Friday and Saturday.
The Islanders will officially get underway Friday morning against Oregon before facing host #20 Tulane, USF, and #12 LSU. All of A&M-Corpus Christi's opponents this weekend are either ranked in the AVCA Coaches Poll or receiving votes.
The Islanders will look to get back to the rankings as well, gracing the top-20 nationally in previous seasons. Last year, they received votes in the AVCA Coaches poll every week of the 2025 season.
Six returners will compete this season, including
Madison Morrow who was part of the 2025 SLC Pair of the Year as well as
Kristin Bobay who was the 2023 SLC Freshman of the Year.
Bryce Ranney,
Millie Olsson,
Ashlyn Rough, and
Maria Duda Fernandes de Melo also come back for the 2026 season.
The Islanders have reloaded with a long of young talent, with nine true freshmen making up this year's roster. They also brought in five key transfers to aid in this year's campaign.
It will be A&M-Corpus Christi's first ever meetings with Oregon and USF. They trail Tulane 7-3 all-time but last won last year 4-1. The Islanders will be going for their first win over LSU but have earned at least one point in the last four meetings.
