HAMMOND, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team heads out on its penultimate road trip of the 2025-26 season this week, going back to Louisiana for matchups against Southeastern on Thursday at 6 p.m. and McNeese on Saturday at 1 p.m.
To kick off the trek east, the Islanders (4-20, 3-14 SLC) will have the chance to secure the season sweep of the Lady Lions (4-20, 3-14 SLC), whom they were able to take down back on January 17 in Corpus Christi by a final score of 68-65. After going into the half facing a four-point deficit on that day, the team rallied for an incredible third quarter, ripping off a 15-0 run and outscoring Southeastern 22-5 in total to build up a double-digit lead that would hold the rest of the way despite a late push by the visitors. K'Nari Holliday led the offense with 16 points apiece, while redshirt senior
Trinity Slocum put together a nice all-around performance with six points, six rebounds and 10 assists.
After this, A&M-Corpus Christi will take on a red-hot Cowgirls (22-4, 16-1 SLC) squad, who comes into the week riding a 15-game winning streak that has them alone atop the Southland standings. One of these wins came at the Hilliard Center on January 15, where the Islanders were hampered by a cold start and ended up falling by a final score of 59-42. Holliday ended up being the lone member of the team to reach double figures with 10, while Wooten and Slocum each grabbed 10 rebounds each.
