Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Tennis Continues Winning Ways with 4-0 Victories over Oral Roberts

WACO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis teams posted another sweep with a pair of 4-0 decisions over Oral Roberts Monday in Waco to both get to double figure victories on the year.

The women have remained unbeaten, sliding to 10-0 this year, while the men have improved to 10-1 with their sole loss coming to nationally ranked Texas on the road. Both have earned all but one of their wins in sweeping fashion.

Today's matches were play to clinch, starting with doubles play. The women saw Yana Mykytyn/Kseniya Ramanouskaya defend No. 1 doubles with a 6-4 while the court two helped sway the doubles point towards the Islanders with Adriana Jimenez Casado/Viktoriia Sedova grabbing the 6-3 win.

In singles play, Ramanouskaya and Jimenez both added a win tally to their mark today getting wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, in straight sets. Emma Bousquet completed the 4-0 win at No. 6 singles with a tough 6-4, 7-5 victory.

The men had No. 2 and No. 3 doubles earn the point for them. Omar Suarez/Etienne Marty paired at court two for a 6-2 win while Ethan Dasset/Josef Zapletal took care of business at position three 6-3.

Suarez dominated in singles play for a pair of 6-1 sets at No. 2 singles while Zapletal also got a second win on the day with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles. Mikel Garmendia played at No. 5 singles and came away with the finishing 6-4, 6-4 win.

Both squads remain undefeated against Oral Roberts, with the men holding a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series while the women are now 3-0. The men saw this matchup just last year, also winning 4-0 also on a neutral court. It was the women's first time squaring off with Oral Roberts since 2014 when they won 4-1.

The men now look forward to the 62nd H-E-B Tournament of Champions this weekend at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. The H-E-B Tournament of Champions is the oldest college team tournament in the country, with the Islanders taking over hosting the past 20 years.

The Islanders will welcome New Mexico State, Louisiana, and UT-Arlington Friday and Saturday for the tournament, each day starting at 9 a.m.
