HOUSTON – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field team concludes the indoor regular season over the weekend, splitting between the Howie Ryan Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University in its final tune up before the 2026 Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
The majority of the Islanders will be making the trip to Houston for the one-day meet, which will start on Friday at 10 a.m. with the women's high jump and all run the way until 7 p.m. At the same time, four members of the team – sophomore
Kye Lowth on the men's side and sophomores
Elizabeth Khatevi,
Phylis Kibet and
Alicia Finnis for the women – will spend two days in Boston, with Lowth currently set to compete on Friday and the others hitting the track on Saturday.
"Both teams have worked incredibly hard throughout the fall into the first half of the indoor season," Islanders head coach
Bryan Jackson said. "I am extremely pleased with where both teams are at, and I'm looking forward to this final competitive opportunity before indoor championships. We have split the team between two meets, and I am expecting big things in how we compete both in Boston and Houston."
The last time that the Islanders competed came at the Robert Platt Invitational two weeks ago, which saw Khatevi, junior
Emmanuel Ekuma and junior
Abbey Coberly break school records in the women's mile, men's shot put and women's 3000m respectively. This made it six top marks taken down so far this year already, coming after the team broke 20 combined between indoor and outdoor seasons in the 2025 campaign.
Results for both meets will be available to follow along live, and both meets can also be watched live at the respective links below.
