FRISCO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program saw four student-athletes recognized on the Southland Conference All-Conference Teams, released by the league office Tuesday.
Yana Mykytyn and
Kseniya Ramanouskaya earned First Team honors at No. 1 doubles, while freshmen
Leticia Tarocco and
Josefa Fuenzalida were tabbed to the Second Team for No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
Mykytyn/Ramanouskaya held down No. 1 doubles as the freshmen duo finished untouched with the 8-0 conference record this year. Overall, they were 18-1 on the year from that top court and were also leading in their final conference match.
Tarocco was also unscathed in conference play from court one, going 4-0 at No. 1 singles for the Second Team recognition. She garnered six total conference wins on the year, including a pair from the No. 2 spot.
Fuenzalida took the Second Team spot for No. 2 singles after recording a 3-1 mark from the court in league play. She matched the team's best singles record at 8-1 after also posting wins at courts four and five.
The Islanders posted an 8-1 league record for their third consecutive regular season championship and seventh overall. It earned them the No. 1 seed for the SLC Tournament.
They will be going for their fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, hoping to extend on a historic four-year run to the postseason which had never been before in the 61-year history of the conference.
Their seven total NCAA appearances are already a conference record, but they will be gunning for continued historic success when they begin this year's tournament tomorrow at 10 a.m. against No. 8 UIW/No. 9 Lamar.
