CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After putting together one of its most complete series of the season last weekend, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team returns home trying to carry the momentum into another one, taking on Southeastern Louisiana for three games at Chapman Field starting on Friday.
The Islanders (13-21, 5-10 SLC) most recently made their extended stay in Nacogdoches count, staying resilient despite multiple different weather delays to take three straight games over Stephen F. Austin, their second sweep of the year and first of a conference series since the 2022 campaign. The highlight of the weekend was a signature win on Sunday, when the team battled through a marathon 16-inning affair before rallying for the victory in one of the longest games in program history. Jarrett Flaggert proved the be the catalyst, combining to go 9-17 with a home run, a triple, a double, four RBIs and five runs scored at the plate.
A&M-Corpus Christi now tries to continue its climb up the Southland against the Lions (26-7, 11-4 SLC), who currently sit in in fourth place in a tightly contested race at the top of the conference. The Islanders will look to turn around their recent fortunes against Southeastern, as they have not won a season series against their foes from the Bayou since the 2021 season, when they swept a three-game set at Chapman Field. The last meeting between the two ended up going their way, though, with the team emerging victorious in the last game of 2024 to clinch a spot in the conference tournament.
