LAKE CHARLES, La. – Looking to get back to where they were just two seasons ago, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball Southland Conference Championship campaign begins Sunday at 5 p.m. against eighth-seeded HCU in the opening round of the tournament.
The Islanders (19-13, 12-8 SLC) will begin their journey back to the NCAA Tournament when they kick off this year's conference tournament. The program last won the title in 2022-23 which punched their ticket to March Madness for the second year in a row. They went on to win their first-ever NCAA Tournament game against Southeast Missouri State 75-71 in the First Four before facing No. 1 Alabama in the First Round.
The teams split this year's series, both taking a win on their home court against the other. The Islanders, however, hold a 17-7 lead in the all-time series over the Huskies including 1-0 when facing each other in the conference tournament, making this just their second time meeting in the postseason.
The game will be available to watch live on ESPN+ with David Saltzman (pxp) and Ben Braun (analyst). It can also be heard live for free on 1440 AM K-E-Y-S with
Steven King on the call.
