Baseball Heads North for Midweek Road Clashes With Texas A&M, Prairie View A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team heads back on the road for a pair of midweek tilts this week, starting with a big matchup against Texas A&M on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before then taking on Prairie View A&M for an afternoon showdown the next day at 2 p.m.

The Islanders (8-13, 1-5 SLC) are coming off a conference series against Northwestern State over the weekend, where they walked away with one win in three games against the Demons. Their lone victory came on Saturday behind a great tandem effort on the mound from freshman Bryson Shea and junior Gage Burdick and some timely hitting from seniors Trey Cruz and Logan Vaughan, while in the other two contests, they suffered shutout defeats that snapped their streak of two straight series wins in the matchup against their Southland rivals.

In the first game of the new week, A&M-Corpus Christi faces a tough test in the Aggies (10-9, 0-3 SEC), who came into the 2025 season ranked as the No. 1 team in the country. The Islanders haven't squared off against the flagship since April 12, 2022, a game in which they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but faltered down the stretch and fell by a final of 5-3. A win would give the team its first ever victory over Texas A&M, having lost in each of the 14 matchups between the two dating back to 2000, and it would mark its second over a power conference opponent this year after previously taking down Big 10 foe UCLA during the Kleberg Bank College Classic on February 21.

After the matchup in College Station, the Islanders then head southeast to take on Prairie View (6-15, 2-1 SWAC), whom they recently hosted at Chapman Field for a series at the beginning of March. During that weekend, A&M-Corpus Christi took home its first sweep of the season, dispatching the Panthers in three straight contests while outscoring them by a combined total of 36-17. The team scored 10 runs or more in all three games during the set, which was its first time accomplishing that feat since all the way back in April of 2007 against Nicholls. Senior Austin Russell was the catalyst for the offense in these games, reaching base in 10 of his 15 plate appearances while picking up a combined six RBIs.

Tuesday's game can be watched live on SEC Network+, while Wednesday's will be viewable on the PVAMU Athletics YouTube channel. The live stats for both will be available to follow along as they happen.
