CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis team will look to continue their dominant start to the season when they head across town to face Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday at 11 a.m.
The Islanders (8-0) have yet to drop a match this year, marking the second time in the last three years that they started 8-0 after they got out to an 11-0 start in 2023. It is the fifth ever season that the Islanders went undefeated through their first eight matches.
Four players this year have already reached the five-win mark in their singles competition, with freshman
Juliette Jalai taking the title for team-leader with a 7-0 singles record competing between courts three through six. She has notched every victory without dropping a set so far.
Also tallying a 5-0 singles record on the season already are freshmen
Josefa Fuenzalida,
Leticia Tarocco, and
Yana Mykytyn. Mykytyn has also found success at No. 1 doubles with partner freshman
Kseniya Ramanouskaya as the duo has remained an untouched 7-0 on the year. Ramanouskaya is also 3-0 at No. 1 singles, competing high at both top courts in singles and doubles play.
It will be the eighth meeting between the Islanders and Javelinas, facing off once in each of the last seven seasons. The Islanders are an undefeated 7-0 in the all-time series with A&M-Kingsville.
