BEAUMONT, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team will see a glimpse into conference play this Saturday when they open the league slate at Lamar in a 6 p.m. matchup in the Montagne Center.
This will be the first conference matchup for either team this year. Lamar finished second in the league last season with a 14-6 record while the Islanders tied for fourth with a 12-8 SLC mark.
It will be a lone conference game for the Islanders before it picks back up on Dec. 17 at SFA. The bulk of the league slate will get rolling on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31 at home against Nicholls and New Orleans.
Under head coach
Jim Shaw, the Islanders are 26-13 in conference play which is the program's the best league winning percentage (.667) from a coach's first two seasons at the helm, edging out his predecessor Steve Lutz who was 21-11 in his two seasons (.656).
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can also be listened to live on 1440 AM K-E-Y-S with
Steven King on the call.
