Women's Basketball Continues Road Swing at UTEP For Nonconference Finale

EL PASO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team wraps up its nonconference schedule this week, hitting the road once again for a trip west to take on UTEP on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT.

The Islanders (1-5) will be looking to get back into the win column when they take on the Miners (6-0), as in their last time out, they started off their current five-game road swing with losses to No. 24 Oklahoma State and Oral Roberts. The latter contest saw one of the team's best individual performances of the season to date, however, as senior K'Nari Holliday went off for a 15-point, 15-rebound outing against the Golden Eagles. This helped Holliday tie her previous career high for rebounds in a single game, and it marked the most for any Islanders player in a game since Paige Allen recorded 18 back on February 17, 2024.

A&M-Corpus Christi now sets its sights on a tough Miners team, who enters play having won each of its first six games of the year, including a victory over Southland Conference opponent Nicholls. The Islanders squared off against their in-state foes from Conference USA last season in Corpus Christi, falling by a final score of 64-53 in what ended up being a very defensive battle on both sides throughout. In total, UTEP holds the advantage in the all-time series 4-1, with all of its wins coming consecutively after the Islanders took home the first meeting all the way back on December 6, 2001.

Wednesday's game can be watched live on ESPN+. It will also be available to listen live for free on 1440 AM K-E-Y-S with Doug Kesterson on the call.
