DALLAS, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will get on the road for the first time this year with a tough slate ahead, beginning this weekend when they take on SMU Thursday night before swinging down to Tarleton State for a Saturday matchup.
The Islanders will tip off against SMU Thursday night at 7 p.m. and will make a pit stop at Tarleton State for another night game Saturday at 6 p.m.
It begins a challenging stretch for the Islanders, playing seven of their next nine games on the road at Division I programs including four consecutive road contests off the bat. After the trip to SMU and Tarleton this week, A&M-Corpus Christi will turn around and head back on the road to Power Four opponents Kansas and Oklahoma State before getting the chance to play back at home on Nov. 22.
They got a taste of home court play, however, as they opened the season Monday night against Trinity. They turned a 31–31 halftime tie into a statement win, outscoring the Tigers 52–25 in the final 20 minutes which was powered by the entire starting lineup ending in double figures with graduate
Mason Gibson sinking five threes for a game-high 19 points in his Islanders debut.
It will be the third ever meeting between A&M-Corpus Christi and SMU and the first ever matchup between the Islanders and Tarleton State.
Both games will be available to watch live on ESPN+ as well as listened to live on 1440 AM K-E-Y-S with
Steven King on the call.
