COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team faces a big early season test this week, hitting the road for the first time in 2025-26 to square off with Texas A&M on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Islanders (1-0) got their season tipped off with a bang in their opener on Monday, taking down the College of Biblical Studies by an incredible final score of 100-30 in what was a record-breaking performance in multiple ways. Their 70-point margin of victory marked the largest ever in program history, surpassing the previous high of 66 accomplished on two separate occasions, and they reached the century mark in points for just the fourth time ever and the first since all the way back on March 12, 2008. The team also knocked down a whopping 15 three pointers in this game, easily breaking the old record of 12 reached three different times.
A&M-Corpus Christi now returns to the site of arguably the best win in program history, as in its most recent matchup with the Aggies on November 4 of last year, it went into College Station and took down the flagship by a final of 62-56 to open up the 2024-25 campaign. This was just the fourth-ever win for the Islanders over a power conference opponent, and their first since they beat Alabama nearly 15 years earlier on November 14, 2009. It was also their first victory over Texas A&M, doing so in their ninth try dating back to 1999.
Tuesday's game can be watched live on SEC Network+ with Will Johnson and Tap Bentz on the call. It can also be listened to for free on 1440 AM K-E-Y-S with Doug Kesterson on the call.
