STILLWATER, Okla. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team begins its longest road trip of the season with a couple stops in the Sooner State this week, first taking on No. 18 Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Monday at 6:30 p.m. before then traveling to Tulsa on Wednesday for a matchup with Oral Roberts at 1 p.m.
The Islanders (1-3) most recently played their final home game for more than a month last Thursday, falling to in-state foe Texas State at the Dugan Wellness Center by a final score of 53-43. They did show a lot of fight in this contest, getting back to within a six-point deficit after trailing by 21 to the Bobcats at halftime, but they could not fully close the gap during a defensive slugfest of a fourth quarter. Senior
K'Nari Holliday led the way for the team with her best game of the young season to date, scoring 14 points on 4-6 shooting from the field and 6-8 from the free throw line while also grabbing three rebounds.
The first stop of the road swing comes with a tough test for A&M-Corpus Christi, as it heads into hostile territory to take on the Cowgirls (5-1), who boast the nation's fourth highest-scoring offense with a total of 99.2 points per game so far. The matchup on Monday will be the first between the two in nearly 25 years, with the only games in the all-time series coming all the way back on January 3 and November 25 of the year 2000, both of which went the way of Oklahoma State. The hosts aren't strangers to Southland Conference opponents, though, as they opened up the 2025-26 season with wins against New Orleans and East Texas A&M.
Following this, the Islanders then take on the Golden Eagles (2-4), with whom they have more familiarity with thanks to their two seasons as conference rivals back in 2013 and 2014. The last two games between the two both went the way of A&M-Corpus Christi, as the team earned a narrow win in Tulsa on January 4, 2014, before then picking up another one at home just over a month later. This brought the count up to three wins apiece for both squads, with Wednesday's game serving as a rubber match 11 years in the making.
Monday's game can be watched live on ESPN+, while Wednesday's can be viewed on Midco Sports Plus. Both will be also be available to listen live for free on 1440 AM K-E-Y-S with Doug Kesterson on the call.
