STILLWATER, Okla. – It will be a matchup between the current and former head coaches of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team as
Jim Shaw and the Islanders will face Steve Lutz and the Oklahoma State Cowboys Sunday in Gallagher-Iba Arena at 1 p.m.
The head-to-head between Lutz and Shaw comes after the latter took over in 2023-24, serving under the now-Oklahoma State coach the previous two seasons with squads that advanced to the NCAA Tournament both years. Shaw has since led the Islanders to consecutive 20-win seasons similar to his predecessor to build a program record of four straight years of 20+ wins.
Between the programs, it will be the 11
th all-time meeting. Ironically enough, the last time the Islanders faced Oklahoma State was under the direction of Lutz back in 2022-23 when the Cowboys won in Stillwater.
The matchup will be A&M-Corpus Christi's fourth road game in a row and fifth in a 13-day span. It is the first time the Islanders are playing back-to-back games against Power opponents since the 2015-16 season after playing #25 Kansas.
