CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team returns home to continue its run through nonconference play this week, taking on West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT.
The Islanders (1-1) come back to town after most recently hitting the road for the first time in 2025-26, falling to Texas A&M in College Station last Wednesday. They started off well against the Aggies, ripping off an 11-4 run at the end of the opening quarter to finish the first 10 minutes down by just four, but they faded after this and were handed their first loss of the year. This came after the team kicked off the season in record-breaking fashion a week ago, earning a 100-30 win over the College of Biblical Studies in what went into the history books as the largest margin of victory in program history.
Tuesday's game will be just the second ever for the Islanders against the Broncos (1-1), with the first coming in California back on November 21, 2023, when they were taken down by a final score of 75-54. Redshirt sophomore
Torie Sevier had one of the best games of her career on this day, recording 17 points on 7-13 shooting while also grabbing five rebounds in her 27 minutes off the bench. This had stood as her personal best for points in a single game all the way until the season opener this year, finally breaking that mark with a 23-point outburst in her return to action after nearly 10 months on the shelf due to injury.
