SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis team will continue the first week of the 2025 season on the road at Our Lady of the Lake Friday at 11 a.m.
The Islanders (4-0) began the year with four matches in two days, winning doubleheaders against Prairie View A&M and Alcorn State as the young squad quickly jumped out to the undefeated 4-0 season record.
It is the seventh year in a row that the Islanders have gone unbeaten through their first four matches and 10
th overall season to do so.
"We are very excited to travel again together as a unified team and work hard on our process of playing every present point with energy and intensity! We have a great young team that is highly motivated and improving every day. They have great character and heart! We have a lot to improve, and we are excited to compete against Our Lady of the Lake," said head coach
Steve Moore.
Matching the team record is freshman
Juliette Jalai who also hoists a 4-0 singles record. She has spread her attacked, with each victory coming from a different court over opening weekend.
Additionally, she went 2-0 in doubles play with sophomore
Ana Veroux who paired together for wins at courts two and three.
Also with multiple wins on the season already are freshmen
Leticia Tarocco,
Kseniya Ramanouskaya, and
Josefa Fuenzalida who all post the 2-0 singles record. Ramanouskaya is the sole Islander to have multiple wins at the same court so far, each of hers coming from the No. 1 singles court.
Ramanouskaya has joined forces with freshman
Yana Mykytyn to also compete at No. 1 doubles, as the duo has gone 3-0 from that top spot. Similarly, the sophomore paring of
Zoe Moley and
Adriana Jimenez Casado are 3-0 from No. 3 doubles.
It will be the first time the two have met since the 2023 season when the Islanders swept a doubleheader against the Saints both in 4-0 decisions.
