FRISCO, Texas – Senior
Zoe Theriot came away as the Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week after a stellar performance in the net over opening weekend of the 2024 season, announced by the league office Tuesday.
Theriot opened the season with her career-high 11 saves in the 1-1 tie against North Dakota. She then turned around and posted her first shutout of the season, denying Tarleton State of any goal in the second game of the season for the clean sheet. It was her third career shutout.
She played the entirety in the net for both games, only allowing one goal past her through 180 minutes.
"Zoe has been a really strong part of our team throughout preseason and now into non-conference play," said head coach
Daniel Clitnovici. "She took the summer seriously and arrived ready to go. She makes us better and deserves this conference-wide accolade."
It marks Theriot's first-career weekly accolade. She is the first Islanders goalkeeper to earn the nod since
Kennedy Stelling, a graduate assistant coach for the Islanders this year, won it last season on Sept. 5.
