A&M-Corpus Christi Rematches UTSA in Single Night Game

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team will take on the UTSA Roadrunners once again this season, heading to San Antonio this time for a single face-off Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.

The Islanders (17-23) have already faced UTSA (21-15) this year in a three-game series at home where they defeated the Roadrunners 2-1 for the weekend victory. A&M-Corpus Christi has now taken three of the last four meetings from UTSA. It included an 8-2 win in last year's midweek between the two teams.

"It's a big single game for us tomorrow in San Antonio," said head coach Scott Malone. "If you look at [UTSA's] record over the last month, those guys are killing it. They're playing high-level baseball right now in one of the best conferences in the league and they're at the top, so it'll be a very difficult Tuesday for us."

A&M-Corpus Christi has also found success in the midweek this year, winning six during the week including three on the road. It includes a 4-1 victory at Texas.

On the road, senior Sebastian Trinidad has put it quite the offensive work where he is batting a .386 compared to his season average of a .348. He has knocked six of his 10 doubles while away with a team-high .429 on-base percentage.

In the series with UTSA earlier this year, he exploded for a .583 batting average to earn him SLC Hitter of the Week honors. He was 7-of-12 from the plate and drove in six of the team's 14 runs through the three games.

Overall, he is one of three Islanders hitting above .300 with junior Isaac Webb leading the way at a .364. Webb has recorded 59 hits on the year, which ranks #9 overall in the NCAA. He is one hit behind the conference leader from UIW.

Webb is on a nine-game hitting streak, two games away from matching his season-high.

Junior Chance Reisdorph has turned in a .300 batting effort on the year. His sole home run on the year came in game three against the Roadrunners this year when he jumped all over the first pitch he saw to send it out for the three-run blast.

He is one of nine Islanders to record a triple on the year, as the team's 13 total ranks them 22nd in the nation. The Islanders also find themselves ranked top-30 in the NCAA in hits (373) and sacrifice bunts (24) which they also lead the conference in.

With the Islanders having taken three of the last four meetings with the Roadrunners, they are continuing to chip into the 17-29 all-time series record which UTSA advantages. A&M-Corpus Christi will be going for its seventh ever win in San Antonio and first since 2020.

"We used our bullpen a lot this weekend, so we'll try to piece together some of our bullpen arms for one inning here, two innings there, but it'll be a challenge to beat a very good UTSA team on the road," said Malone.

The game will be available to watch live on ESPN+.
