AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team came up short at the University of Texas, falling 4-1 Saturday at the Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex.

It concludes the regular season for the #20 Islanders (24-8) who have notched the best record in program history with the most wins in a regular season and fewest losses in a full season when playing a minimum of 20 matches. They are one win away from tying the program best of wins in a single season, after winning 25 last year including four in the postseason.

The sole point of the day for the Islanders came from
Chloe Tome/
Cassie Dodd. The duo won their dual at flight two with the battled 21-14, 14-21, 15-10 three-set victory. It marked their 20th win on the year when playing together, the most wins among the pairings on the team this season.
It was the Islanders' first loss to the Longhorns after they defeated them earlier this year in a 3-2 decision in the Islanders Classic. The teams are now evened at 1-1 in the all-time record.

The Islanders will now turn their eyes towards the SLC Championships next weekend, set for April 19-21 in Houston, Texas. After repeating as the SLC Regular Season Champions, A&M-Corpus Christi will go into the tournament as the No. 1 seed for the third year in a row to seek a three-peat of the tournament title.
They will enter the tournament after being ranked nationally for the last four straight weeks. The Islanders have checked in a #20 in the AVCA Coaches Poll each week.
