AUSTIN, Texas – Fighting for a final boost of momentum ahead of the conference tournament, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team will wrap up its regular season in a single head-to-head match at the University of Texas Saturday at noon.

The #20 Islanders (24-7) have already turned in a stellar regular season. With just two guaranteed matches remaining on the schedule, A&M-Corpus Christi has notched its best record in program history with the most wins in a regular season and fewest losses in a full season when playing a minimum of 20 matches.

With those two guaranteed matches, they could also be on track to break the most wins ever in a whole season, topping the 25 won last year with four of those coming in the postseason.

The Islanders will be looking to also bounce back after a tough outing last weekend that started strong with a 3-2 upset over #16 Florida Atlantic. It marked the program's second-ever win over a top-20 team and first this season after they defeated #18 Arizona last year.

Despite the other three matches not going their way, the Islanders remained consistent at the #20 national ranking for the fourth straight week.

Prior to it, the Islanders had been riding a 13-match winning streak that included the complete 7-0 record against Southland opponents for the second straight year. It also featured a 3-2 win over the Longhorns already this year, when the Islanders beat them in their home tournament.

It was the first-ever meeting between A&M-Corpus Christi and second-year program Texas as the Islanders hold the one-up in the head-to-head record.

The pairings of
Chloe Tome/
Cassie Dodd and
Stephanie Young/
Hannah Doyle are both at 19 wins on the year, though, they all individually record at least 23 wins each. Also with 20+ wins on the year are
Elizabeth Cortez (22) and
Tori Johnson (22).

Young and Doyle are at 24 wins each as both are two away from tying the most wins in a single season. Johnson's 22 wins have helped her become the program's most winning player this season, now up to 68 in her career. She records nine more wins than the second-leading Islander.

It will be the final test before A&M-Corpus Christi heads to the SLC Tournament next weekend to try and three-peat the title and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the third year in a row. They will enter the championships as the No. 1 seed after going back-to-back as regular season champs.

The match will be available to follow along with live stats.
