FORT WORTH, Texas – Coming down to the deciding court in the third set, sophomores
Kristin Bobay and
Madison Morrow edged UAB 16-14 in the final moment to complete a 2-0 day for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team after a 5-0 sweep over SFA in the morning of the Horned Frog Challenge.
The Islanders (9-2) are continuing their winnings ways for the program's best start to a season after notching the decisions over SFA and UAB today. They move to 7-0 all-time over the Lumberjacks while they avenged a 3-2 loss last year to the Blazers with the reversed score this year.
Bobay and Morrow had all eyes on them in the second match of the day as the 2-2 match came down to a battle of a third set at flight one. In extra points, they were the ones to emerge victorious with the 16-14 set three score to stamp the undefeated day.
Setting them up were courts three and four after

Millie Olsson got the match tied at 1-1 with a three-set comeback after dropping the first 12-21, 21-14, 15-8. At No. 3,
Hannah Doyle and
Stephanie Young paired to take down their UAB opponent 21-15, 21-7.
The day didn't start nearly as thrilling, as the Islanders were all business for a 5-0 sweep over SFA. Those three pairs opened the day with straight-set wins over the Lumberjacks to each go 2-0 on the day at their respective courts.

Elizabeth Cortez at court five with a rhythmic 21-16, 21-12 win while the duo of
Chloe Tome/
Cassie Dodd took on flight two for a grinding three-set outlast 21-18, 20-22, 15-11.
Bobay/Morrow move to 9-2 on the year for the best pairing record of the team. Seven of those wins have come from the No. 1 spot.
The Islanders will look to build on their historic success once again tomorrow as they close out the weekend with a 7:30 a.m. match against Tulane and a 1:30 p.m. face-off with UC Davis.
