CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Nearing the end of the regular season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will have a filled home weekend on tap with games against New Orleans and Southeastern at the American Bank Center.
The Islanders (18-8, 11-4 SLC) will face New Orleans (10-16, 7-8 SLC) Thursday night at 7 p.m. before taking on Southeastern (17-9, 13-2 SLC) Saturday at 1 p.m. The game on Saturday will be the annual Homecoming game where A&M-Corpus Christi will celebrate the 25
th year of athletics. It will also feature a special pregame celebration as the Islanders will honor graduating seniors

Sasha Shishkina,
Paige Allen,
Nabaweeyah McGill,
Violeta Verano, and
Mireia Aguado.
The Islanders are coming off a split road trip after toppling HCU 68-42 before being narrowly edged down the stretch at Lamar 68-63. Despite the recent loss, the Islanders have secured at least a first-round bye into the SLC Tournament with three games remaining in the regular season.
A&M-Corpus Christi nears the end of the season leading the Southland Conference in scoring margin (+9.8), 3FG% defense (.256), rebounding (40.7 rpg), assists (14.46 apg), and steals (11.50 spg). They rank #8 overall in the NCAA for their three-point defense.
Aguado has continued to have a breakout season in her senior year. She had back-to-back career games after her career best of 21 points at Northwestern State was broken in the very next game with 22 points against Lamar. She has significantly improved from her last year's scoring average of 4.1 ppg to 10.3 ppg.
She is one of three Islanders averaging in double figures against conference opponents as she and Westbrook tie for lead scorer with 13.1 ppg. Allen joins them with 10.5 points per league game.
McGill continues to lead the league in blocks, averaging 1.5 per game. Westbrook seconds the conference in rebounding (7.7 rpg), third in def. rebounding (5.3 drpg), third in off. rebounding (2.3 orpg), and third in FG% (.503). Aguado ranks second in steals (2.0 spg) and is one of three in the league's top-five for that category as Allen ranks third (2.0 spg) and junior
Tymberlin Criswell ranks fifth (1.9 spg).
Aguado also ranks fifth in FG% at a .490 clip while Allen ranks fourth in off. Rebounding, averaging 2.2 per outing.
A&M-Corpus Christi is two games back from second-place Southeastern in the Southland standings.

NOTES
- The Islanders will now finish the regular season with three home games before heading the Lake Charles for the SLC Championships. The Islanders are 11-3 at home this season, 236-151 all-time at home, and 102-76 in the American Bank Center. It is the third consecutive year that the Islanders have won at least 10 games on their home court.
- A&M-Corpus Christi leads New Orleans 18-3 in the all-time series and a perfect 9-0 when playing the Privateers at home. The Islanders will be going for the season sweep after defeating UNO 61-54 on the road earlier this year.
- The Islanders trail Southeastern just 12-13 in the all-time series but holds a 7-4 advantage when playing the Lady Lions at home. Though, the Islanders will be looking to break a four-game losing streak to SLU for their first win over the Lady Lions since the 2021-22 season when they won 57-50 at home.
- A&M-Corpus Christi remains undefeated in conference play when holding Southland teams to under 60 points. The Islanders are 14-0 overall this year when holding the opposition to under 60 points.
- The Islanders are also 15-2 this year when they score 60 or more points. They have scored at least 50 points in every game this year, the first time since 2013-14 that the Islanders have scored at least that many in each of the first 24 games of the season.
- Westbrook recently just made her 100th consecutive career start in the 78-64 win at McNeese, all coming in an Islanders uniform. It has added onto her historical run as one of the greatest Islanders in program history, as she has now broken the program records for career rebounds, career defensive rebounds, career double-doubles, career free throws made, career free throw attempts, and most recently, career minutes played with 3,715, surpassing Kirbia Lewis's (03-07) 3,714. She is second all-time in career steals (232) and career points (1,469). She needs 30 more steals and 81 points to tie those program records.
