CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – With seven games left in the regular season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team will play two of its five remaining home games this weekend against Texas A&M-Commerce and Northwestern State at the American Bank Center.
A&M-Corpus Christi's (14-10, 7-4 SLC) game against the Lions, presented by KIII TV, is set for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Islanders will take on the Demons Monday at 7 p.m., presented by Servpro.
The Islanders will be going for the season sweeps over both teams, after topping Northwestern State 79-68 and A&M-Commerce 69-54. A&M-Corpus Christi turned in its two best three-point shooting performances of the season against the two teams including a 47.4 clip against the Demons.
Juniors
Garry Clark and
Dian Wright-Forde both scored in double figures in each, as the two continue to lead the team in scoring this year averaging 10+ points per outing.
A&M-Corpus Christi has used a balance scoring attack this season as two Islanders average over 10 points per game. Clark leads it with 11.8 ppg while Wright-Forde trails at 10.3. The Islanders score 74.8 points per game and have 10 student-athletes scoring over 5.0 per outing.
The Islanders also average 36.62 bench points per game, which ranks #2 overall in the NCAA. A&M-Corpus Christi also nationally ranks top-20 in turnovers forced per game (15.58), off. rebounds per game (13.62), and rebounds per game (40.58).
Clark's 8.2 rpg ranks fourth in the SLC, though, he seconds the league in off. rebounds with 3.2 per game to rank 32nd in the NCAA. Redshirt sophomore
Stephen Giwa ranks fifth in off. rebounding with 2.4 per outing. Graduate
Marion Humphrey leads the SLC in assist/turnover ratio (3.2) to rank 13th in the NCAA and ranks third in steals (1.7 spg) and fifth in assists (3.5 apg). Senior
Lance-Amir Paul ranks fifth in FT% (.786).
A rebound-heavy team, A&M-Corpus Christi tops the conference in rebounds, off. rebounding, def. rebounding (27.0 drpg), and rebounding margin (+6.3). They also lead the league in 3FG% defense (.304). At least seven different Islanders have grabbed a rebound in every game this year.

NOTES
- The Islanders are 2-1 all-time over A&M-Commerce after playing the Lions for the first time last year. The Islanders will be going for their first home win against the Lions after dropping 80-84 last year.
- A&M-Corpus Christi is 17-7 all-time over Northwestern State and has not lost a home game to the Demons since 2014-15. In last year's home meeting, the Islanders defeated Northwestern State 83-75 to clinch the SLC Regular Season trophy.
- The Islanders are 28-2 over the last two seasons when holding the opposition to 70 points or less. They have held eight Southland opponents to less than 70 points this year. On the offensive end, A&M-Corpus Christi is 22-0 over the last three seasons when shooting over .500 FG%.
- The Islanders have shot over 33.3 percent from the three in six SLC games this season, winning every conference game when they make more threes than their opponent.
- Clark has either recorded 10+ points or 10+ rebounds in nine SLC game this season, recording a double-double in four of them. He leads the team in both with 11.8 ppg and 8.2 rpg.
