CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team returns to action for the first time in nine days on Sunday, ending their hiatus by coming home to the Dugan Wellness Center to take on Schreiner at 1 p.m.
In their last taste of game action, the Islanders (7-4) left for their holiday break on a high note, heading south to Edinburg for the UTRGV Holiday Classic and picking up a pair of wins on back-to-back days. The team got its run started on the 19
th when it managed to outlast Kansas City in a back-and-forth affair thanks to a fourth-quarter takeover from senior
Tymberlin Criswell, and 24 hours later, it rode a career-high in points from graduate
Mireia Aguado to a comfortable victory over Eastern Michigan. The two wins made it four in total over nonconference Division I opponents for the Islanders this season, with the other two coming in the first two games of the season against Texas A&M and Texas State.
A&M-Corpus Christi now shifts its focus to the final nonconference game on its slate this season, which comes against a Mountaineers team that it has historically had a lot of success with. The Islanders currently hold a perfect record in the all-time series against Schreiner, taking home the win in each of the five previous times that the two have squared off by an average margin of victory of 43 points. This includes a win on November 13 of last year at the Dugan Wellness Center by a final score of 92-40, a game in which current freshman
Torie Sevier showed out to the tune of 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in just 13 minutes of action.
The game will be available to watch live on ESPN+ with Doug Kesterson on the call.
