Men’s Basketball Faces Southwestern Adventist for Education Day, Presented by Whataburger

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team will play in front of six elementary schools for Education Day, presented by Whataburger, as they take on Southwestern Adventist Wednesday morning in the Dugan Wellness Center.

Tip-off is slated for 11 a.m. as the Islanders (6-5) are set to welcome elementary schools from Gregory-Portland ISD and CCISD. In addition to attending the basketball games, the students will enjoy a campus tour guided by university and athletics staff. In-game programming will include fitness and nutrition information as well as an appearance by Izzy the Islander.

It will be just the second time the Islanders will go against Southwestern Adventist after the two played in last year's season opener. The Islanders soared to a record-breaking performance in that 111-46 victory that kicked off the Jim Shaw era as head coach, as the 65-point win broke the program's previous margin of victory record of 58 set in 2005. The Islanders also tied the school record for most field goals made in a game with 46 first set in 2001.

The game will be available to watch live on ESPN+ with Steven King on the call.
