SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off a signature season-opening victory at Texas A&M, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will look to extend its hot start by continuing on the road to Texas State Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Islanders (1-0) opened 2024-25 with a bang, going into College Station and taking down Texas A&M 62-56 in the season opener. It marked their fourth ever victory over a Power Five program and the first since they defeated Alabama on November 14, 2009.
With this momentum at their backs, A&M-Corpus Christi will look to defeat Texas State (1-0) for the third straight meeting after the Islanders topped the Bobcats last year 60-52 at home and won in San Marcos in 2022-23 with a 56-47 victory.
Texas State has not lost a home opener since 2003 when the Bobcats fell 85-70 to Montana State. The Bobats' head coach, Zenarae Antoine, is 13-0 in home openers in her career at Texas State.
