CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team hits the road again for their fifth game of the 2024-25 season on Wednesday, making the trip up north to San Antonio to face UTSA at the Convocation Center at 6:30 p.m.
Their last game on Sunday saw the Islanders (3-1) come up short for the first time this year, falling to No. 17 Baylor in Waco by a final of 65-42. Despite putting together another good showing on defense, A&M-Corpus Christi was done in by a lack of offense, failing to find a rhythm on that end throughout the afternoon and shooting a season-low 30 percent from the field as a result. Mireia Aguado was the only player on the team to reach double figures in scoring against the Bears, putting up 11 points on 4-11 shooting while also grabbing three rebounds.
The Islanders will try to shake off the loss in their matchup against UTSA, with the two teams squaring off for the second consecutive season in non-conference play. The game last year proved to be a thriller, one that was won by the Roadrunners 66-59 in overtime after they mounted a late comeback at the Dugan Wellness Center. This continued a trend of struggles against UTSA for A&M-Corpus Christi in recent times, as the team has dropped each of the last eight meetings dating back to February 2010.
