Women's Tennis Grows Stronger with Signing of Tarocco

January 09, 2024

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Adding a national champion to an already decorated program, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis squad announced the signing of Leticia Tarocco to its Fall 2024 roster.

Tarocco, the Croatian National Champion in singles and doubles, will fit right in as she will join one of the most winning programs in the history of the Southland Conference for any sport. The Islanders are the reigning Southland Conference Regular Season Champions and three-time defending SLC Tournament Champions, having made NCAA Tournament appearances in the last three straight seasons.

A native of Dubrovnik, Croatia, Tarocco raises a 9.1 UTR. She has been ranked No. 1 nationally in Croatia and was the winner of the National Championship of Croatia in both singles and doubles. Tarocco has also been ranked No. 30 while playing for TennisEurope and got up to 403 in the ITF Junior Rankings during 2023.

"We are incredibly excited Leticia chose to join the Islanders Tennis Family!" said head coach Steve Moore. "Leticia is a very talented player who was the Croatian National Champion in singles and doubles, and her UTR is 9.1! Most importantly, we loved her character and desire to play for a team that was a big family. She really valued what the Islanders stand for with family, character, discipline, and hard work! Leticia comes from a wonderful family and one of her coaches was an Islander, so she knows firsthand what our team is about! We are just so excited Leticia will be playing for the Islanders next year!"

She will arrive in the Fall 2024 semester as a freshman after the Islanders compete for another championship run this season.
