CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program revived its 2023-24 roster with the signing of 11 newcomers, announced by first year head coach
Jim Shaw.
The signees include two grad transfers, one senior, six juniors, a sophomore and a freshman. They join a team of five returnees.
Marion Humphrey is a 6-3, 180 guard from Hoover, Alabama. He transfers from UT Arlington where he started in 18 games last season and averaged 6.8 points and 2.8 assists per outing. Humphrey ranked first on the team in steals and led the team in scoring in four games.
"Great person, tremendous athlete, lives in the paint as a playmaker & scorer while being a tenacious competitor on the defensive end of the floor. Marion will be a fun player for Islander fans to watch on both ends of the floor," Shaw said.
Dian Wright-Forde is a 6-3, 210 guard from Bay Shore, New York. He spent the last two seasons at Odessa College and guided them to a pair of National Tournament appearances. Humphrey helped win a conference championship with a 28-7 record including 16-0 in conference.
"Big, strong guard that has a scorer's mentality, vocal leader with great spirit and a winner. Early signee that had a great summer on The Island," Shaw said.

"Combo guard that can shoot and score the ball. Good level of quickness and athleticism that will allow him to finish at the rim or create open shots for others," Shaw said.
Amont'e Allen-Johnson is a 6-1, 180 freshman guard from Flint, Michigan. He was an All-State selection at Grand Blanc HS and led the team to its first-ever state championship. Allen-Johnson also spent a year at Dream City Christian Prep.
"Tough guard with leadership skills. Knows how to run a team and do whatever is necessary to win games. Great feel for the game and makes the right plays," Shaw said.

"Dynamic guard that can create his own shot and make tough shots in clutch situations. Good defensively and will rebound the ball at a high level from the guard position," Shaw said.
Shilo Jackson is a 6-9, 210 center from Indianapolis, Indiana. He played two years at Vincennes University where he was an All-Conference selection. He helped Vincennes reach the Elite Eight with a 30-8 record after bringing the team to the NJCAA Central District Finals and the Region XXIV Finals.
"Athletic big man that can finish above the rim in traffic. Good offensive player with his back to the basket and rebounds outside of his area," Shaw said.
Xavier Glenn is a 6-4, 185 guard from Bixby, Oklahoma. He averaged a team-high 21.9 points per game at Connors State College last season and started in all 30 games. He scored over 1,000 points in two seasons at Connors and was an All-America Honorable Mention and All-Region First-Team selection.
"1,000-point scorer in junior college. Has the ability to score at all three levels. Plays extremely hard on defense as well," Shaw said.

"Offensively gifted player that can score in a variety of ways…from distance at the 3-point line, off the dribble, around the basket and via the offensive rebound," Shaw said.
Lance-Amir Paul is a 6-0, 185 grad transfer from fellow Southland Conference member Nicholls. He led the Colonels in assists with 61 on the season and averaged 7.0 points per game. He turned in nine double-figure scoring games including 20 points against the Islanders in Thibodaux.
"Big-time competitor, ready to compete in every drill, or on every possession. Legit quickness and ability to get to the paint to score or assist. Rapidly improving shooter from the 3-point line as well," Shaw said.
