June 29, 2023

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Bringing back one of its own former student-athletes, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball program hired Olivia Fouty as Director of Basketball Operations, announced by head coach Royce Chadwick.

Fouty played for the Islanders in 2014-15 in her fifth year and averaged 11.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She notched 10 double doubles and was named an SLC All-Conference Honorable Mention. Fouty tallied career-highs of 21 points against New Orleans and 14 rebounds versus UNLV.

"I want to thank Coach Chadwick and his staff for giving me this opportunity. I am thrilled to be back in Corpus Christi and cannot wait for the season to begin," Fouty said.

Fouty departed The Island for Spain where she played professionally. She played for Tarragona and averaged a double-double of 15.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per outing, and tallied 15 double doubles.

"We are thrilled to welcome Olivia to our staff. With her extensive familiarity of our system, she is in-tune with our culture. Her presence will bolster our team's cohesion and give each player a role model as she is a former professional player," Chadwick said. "We look forward to a great year."

Fouty returned to the states to work as a graduate assistant at Wheeling University where she earned her MBA. She then served as an assistant coach at New Mexico Highlands for two years from 2020-22.

Most recently, Fouty was an assistant coach at Hawai'I Pacific University in 2022-23 where she worked primarily with the forwards and centers. She coached a WBCA and D2CAA All-America Honorable Mention in Abby Spurgin, who led the PacWest Conference in scoring and blocks and was second in rebounding. Spurgin was the PacWest Player and Newcomer of the Year.

Fouty earned her Bachelor's degree in communications and minored in business at Eastern Michigan University. She's second all-time in EMU history in career double doubles with 17 and helped lead the team to the MAC Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance as a sophomore. Between EMU and A&M-Corpus Christi, Fouty registered over 1,000 career points.
