CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Finalizing its recruiting class for the upcoming season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program added more depth and athleticism with the signing of Texas natives
Kaitlynn Melton and
Aaliyah Ramadan.
Â
Melton is a midfielder from Pflugerville, Texas, and Ramadan is a forward from League City, Texas.
Â
Melton is a transfer that spent the last two years at New Mexico State. She played in 30 games over the last two seasons totaling nine shots in 567 minutes.
Â
"Kaitlynn is a player we admired from her club playing days with Sting Austin ECNL and we are so glad that she is bringing her calmness on the ball and creative play to us. She is also bringing championship experience after winning a conference title and going to NCAA National Championships with New Mexico State. She will fit in perfectly with our possession style play and compete immediately with our midfield which is already one of the best units in the conference," said head coach
Craig Shaw.
Â
Prior to New Mexico State, Melton attended Pflugerville High School and helped lead the team to back-to-back district championships in 2018 and 2019. She led the team in assists in each of her last three seasons and was a two-time All-District First-Team selection.

Â
Ramadan will arrive on The Island as a true freshman. She was an All-Conference First-Team honoree at Clear Creek High School and All-Region Honorable Mention. Ramadan was named Team MVP and two-time Offensive MVP. She played club with 05 Challenge ECNL.
Â
"Aaly has the talent to be a top forward in our conference. She is going to give us a different dimension with her 5-10 frame as she can hold the ball up and provide an aerial threat. She also has the speed of the fastest forwards in the conference while also simultaneously having superb technical ability that means she can get out of tight spaces with ease and get shots off. If she adjusts quickly to the physicality and work rate needed at the DI level she will start scoring goals fast," Shaw said.

Â
Melton and Ramadan will be two of 12 newcomers on the 2023 squad.
