Puls Earns SLC All-Academic First-Team Honors

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Senior Max Puls represented the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball program on the Southland Conference All-Academic Teams by earning First-Team nods, released by the league office Thursday.
 
Puls, from Palm Desert, California, also was an All-Conference Second-Team selection. The first baseman hit for a .316 batting average with a team-high 10 homers, and tallied a 3.76 GPA in the classroom as a universities studies major.
 
"What an outstanding honor for Max Puls," said head coach Scott Malone. "Max had an outstanding final season for the Islanders not only on the field but also in the classroom. He had an outstanding two-year career at The Island University and I have no doubt he will have a great future."
 
Puls started in all 47 games he appeared in and ripped 10 doubles and a .540 slugging percentage. He racked up 36 RBIs and notched 19 multi-hit games. It included three-hit performances against UT Arlington, Lamar and HCU.
