Baseball Drops Second Game to Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's baseball program (17-22) fell in the second game of the series to Lamar (21-17) 10-0 Saturday afternoon at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

"It was a tough day for us," said head coach Scott Malone. "Lamar was ready to go in the first inning and they got a great start from Ellis. It sets up a huge game three on Sunday and we need to be ready for a dog fight."

Senior Brendan Ryan and junior Sebastian Trinidad each had two hits in the game. Joining them in the hits column was sophomore Chance Reisdorph and junior Diego Johnson for a total of six.

Five pitchers took to the mound with junior Colin Purcell leading the way, throwing 4.1 innings in the outing. Zach Garcia, a sophomore, came in for relief before junior Samuel Feltz entered the game. Sophomore Marco Gutierrez pitched for an out before redshirt junior Jaime Ramirez Jr. closed out the game.

A&M-Corpus Christi and Lamar return to the diamond Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. for the rubber match.
